This blog is about the ups and downs of raising four sons. It is all about my perception as a mom and how I can turn it into humor at the end of the day.
About Me
- Lovin' My Four Boys
- My life revolves around my family. I am married to a wonderful man, Mathew, for the past 14 years. We have four awesome boys, Austin, Nicholas, Preston and Liam. I am a full time working mom but enjoyed being with my boys for 8 years. Our life is full of the ups and downs everyday brings. We seem to find humor though through it all.

A Day in the Life of a Soccer/Football Mom
Well every Saturday in almost every month of every year is a Sports Saturday. We have been through soccer, tball, baseball, and our latest is football. My youngest son Preston is playing soccer and my oldest son Austin is playing football. My middle son has determined he will only play sports again if he gets to be a coach. So that is why he is not involved currently. We did the whole tball thing in the spring with him and well let's just say that licking chalk lines and pulling grass were more his thing. I think that is enough said there. Our soccer game this past Saturday was around 9:30 in the morning and our little guy is only four with the attention span of a fly. He is a one kick the ball kind of kid and then would much rather knock someone down than run after the ball. He will even knock down his own team members if they are too close to him so they just better watch out. Let's just say I always leave every game with a horse voice after being the loudest mom on the sideline just trying to keep him alert enough to realize he IS playing in a soccer game. Oh well, his only thought is who and what was brought for snack. After all isn't that why we put them in sports to begin with, for the snacks. My oldest son and husband (coaching) are doing the football league thing this fall. I love football so I was excited when he was going to play. Now I am so happy for this season to be over with. If is wasn't for the biggest complaining parents ever the season would have actually been enjoyable. But when you add a couple idiots to the team chaos seems to follow. Gotta love my husband for sticking it out although I am positive he is looking forward to the end too. I give a lot of credit to all of the men and women out there volunteering on their children's sports teams. It isn't an easy task and I don't mean the coaching of young children but dealing with their crazy parents. I do like it that I have active children, although sometimes I think if we didn't push them how active would they really be.

Gotta Love 'Em
This is my middle son Nicholas. He is my artist and loves everything about school. He is such a little thinker. He thinks about and analyzes everything. He will grow up to do great things.
Here is my oldest son Austin. He is my little athlete and talker. He is also my reader and I love that about him. He takes everything in and more. He is destined to go places, that's for sure. The Afternoon in Paradise
Well since my morning went so well with Preston my afternoon was even better. Let's just say that when he finally falls asleep tonight I will be the one thanking the Lord right by the side of his bed. Sometimes all a mommy wants is a sleeping child and tonight that is my hope, a nice, early bedtime. I had a couple of errands to run after the boys left for school so I put Preston in the car and of course his carseat wasn't in the right row. I am going to buy a car with only two rows next time that way there is no fighting over who sits where. After I move his carseat to the middle row we set off. Next I head over to the bank, the wrong bank. Long story short I have two banks and one gives suckers and the other gives stickers well he wanted the sucker one today. Gee I am sorry that I couldn't accommodate him today. After all isn't that my full time job, to make sure his every whim is satisfied. Then after a wonderful kicking my seat fit I needed to run by the post office just to mail something. Well this time it was because he couldn't get out to mail it inside that I got a wonderful seat kick. Oh my goodness I will pause here to let everyone know how much fun I am having right about now. (Big huge sarcasm in that last sentence, I am not sure if you could tell) So we head home because by now my back hurts and of course the headache is approaching. I meet my sister at my house to do some cooking. For now he has a cousin to play with so hopefully some actual work will get done. I did have about an hour of no fit time today so I managed to get dinner in the crockpot at least. So more errands during the afternoon but I became wise and my sister decided to drive. What an angel child I have when I ride with someone else or just because someone else was in his presence. No wonder no one believes me when I say he does this stuff. I actually have made phone calls to friends and family during his fits just so they can ask, Who Is That???? I am not making this stuff up people. I do not even think you could make this stuff up. He did get his ice cream today, in fact, he got two bowls today. One with his brothers after school and one more tonight for finishing his dinner. Okay, so he didn't actually finish it but did you read my previous post. The kid was getting ice cream no matter what. So that is my day and did I mention I have a sick husband and child to deal with on top of all of this four year old business. Thank goodness tomorrow brings about new adventures, oh, and of course preschool for Preston. I love him so much but good grief, how much shrieking, kicking, flinging of the body can one child do. That must be why he is so thin. Well, I hear him approaching the computer room so I must find out what my prince would like. Oh man I just heard the freezer open and close. Wish me luck.
What a FABULOUS Morning
Okay so my title is completely sarcastic. I never had the terrible twos or horrible three's with any of my boys and since two of mine are already past that stage I am left with a FABULOUS four year old. I have battled since we woke up this morning. Let's start with the ice cream, yes my four year old brought me ice cream this morning at 6:30am. I tell him no and then his famous loud shrieking fit starts. Wow, I love my mornings to start off with such an alarm clock. Okay now I am up and trying to put my sleepy other two in the shower. Well as they get in the four year old stops only to start another battle for a different kind of ice cream. I guess if you are four and mom says no to one kind it is very logical to ask for a different kind. Since of course the only reason I said no in the first place was because the first kind was Rocky Road instead of Mint Chocolate Chip. Of course after I say no again it is back to the loud shrieking sounds from a mad four year old. I finish getting my other two ready for school all while still listening to him and his wonderful sounds. He finally calms down, gives me a hug, says sorry, and hands me something decent to have for breakfast. I no sooner make everyone's breakfast then turn around and there he is waiting for a drink. I really try not to make any sudden movements for fear he may start shrieking again. This time he wants chocolate milk instead of regular milk. Okay at this point I really would have just given the kid chocolate milk but mom forgot the syrup last shopping trip (probably because he was shrieking then too). Well I knew it was coming again because white milk isn't as good as chocolate milk and he wanted chocolate milk. Being the mom in me and giving up just a little I even offered him ice cream which at this point he was over that and onto bigger and better fits. Lord give me strength today.

Starting from Today
This is my first post on my new blog. The boys are already a month into school and all are loving it. Preston is in prekindergarten and loving his new class and classmates. Nicholas is in kindergarten and we have determined that as of today only home packed lunches will due. I didn't realize that at the age of 5 standing in a lunch line actually mattered so much. I guess when you are hungry it does. Austin is in second grade and doing so well. He is my reader and since I love to read it makes me very happy that he has gained that trait from me. My poor husband is sick. I hope he recovers quickly. As for me I am still exhausted which I have heard from other mothers will probably never go away. Although I do love to stay busy so being tired just goes with the territory. Since it is late I will end my first post and will be back with more news tomorrow.
