Pumpkin Patch

We took the boys to the pumpkin patch on Sunday. We tried to go last Sunday but the wind and weather weren't the best, especially up in the mountains. We had fun. The boys got to do all of the activities. They even got to pan for gold and kept the gems they found. They liked the pedal karts the best I think. They stood in a very long line to ride them twice so I figured if you want to wait in a line you must really want to ride them. We tried the corn maze and went around in circles until Nicholas had to pee. All in all it was a beautiful day and the boys had a lot of fun. We carved our pumpkins tonight and after convincing me to clean them out they turned out pretty good. Preston decided carving a pumpkin is still gross so he painted his red and blue. Not sure what it is exactly and neither was he but it is nicely painted. They are very excited about trick or treating and getting dressed up this year. Nicholas and Preston are ninjas and Austin is the grim reaper. I remember when I had Winnie the Poohs and Mickey Mouses and now they want to be characters with swords, guns, scary faces, or all of the above. I miss my little guys and dressing them up so cute. I guess those days are behind me and I get to enjoy my little monsters instead.

Mommy's Fired....

I drop Preston off and pick him up at the boys' school. I know usually when to be there to pick him up but sometimes it varies and I don't like to sit there for a long time. Well today I got there and the bus was already sitting there. By the looks of things not for very long but it was still there before me. I got up to the bus to pick Preston up and he says "You're fired Mommy because you late." I said are you sure you want to fire me. He said yes. I said thank goodness. I won't have to cook, do laundry, clean the house, read bedtime stories or anything anymore. He looked at me shocked and told me "I refired." I said did you mean rehired and he said "No, I mean refired cause you not fired anymore cause I like stories and food." Too funny. At least it gave me a good laugh. He cracks me up.

Teacher Conference Day

Well, first of all I cannot believe that it is already the end of the first nine weeks of school. I remember standing at the bus stop on that first day with my boys and cheering as the bus pulled around the corner and now here it is one step closer to summer vacation again. How scary!!! :0) My first one of the day was Preston's. He is of course very good at school and loves to learn. His teacher adores him and he follows the rules very well. He is learning letters and sounds and can count up to 14 without help. He likes to skip some numbers in between but who notices anyways. I do love for people to tell me they enjoy him because at least I know he only saves his fit throwing self for his loving mommy. Gotta love that. My next conference was Austin's, the oldest. His teacher loves him too and she said he shows lots of great potential. He is above average for reading which I love since I am an avid reader. She said if she let him he would read all day. He is still impulsive on his behavior outside of the classroom. I hope he will outgrow that behavior soon. I know that he is impulsive here too but am hoping it is his age and he is all boy. He also loves science and everything science related. I am thinking he will follow that field later in life because he enjoys that at home also. Overall very good report card even though his impulsiveness has gotten the best of him at some points this school year. My last conference of the afternoon was for Nicholas, my middle son. His teacher gave a lot of praise for my little guy. He is advanced in almost every aspect of kindergarten and is getting ready to start basic reading this next semester. He loves school so I figured the outcome for his meeting would go well. I am so proud of him. He has overcome a bad speech problem that led to almost two and a half years of therapy, which he tested out of last January to progressing so well in school. She said he sits in a group of boys that are loud and sometimes tend to get into trouble. Instead of him following he will ask to move and take himself out of this situation. For him being only five I find that type of behavior to be wonderful. He can distinguish between following the group and backing off for his own sake. I was very proud to hear that. I think I had a smile on my face the whole time.

All of my boys are unique, funny, quiet, and every other emotion. I love it that each of them is different. Overall the conferences went well. I couldn't be more proud of my kiddos.

Just an Update

It has been a couple weeks since I posted last. Lots is happening around our household. The Football season has come to a close and I did a happy dance for that one. Soccer has one more week and then we are free from sports activities for about two months. Doesn't sound like long but it is a great break. My boys are all finishing up their first nine weeks at school and are off for teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday. I actually look forward to hearing what their teachers have to say. They are smart, funny, and have a lot to offer, just not when they are at home around me. I am just joking, actually I am only sort of joking. Oh well, I think most children act up more at home than around other people. It isn't something horrible because at least I know that when I leave them places people aren't begging for me to pick them up.

Halloween is fast approaching and I took my youngest to the costume store today. It was thirty minutes of torture. He wanted every costume I had already told him no to. I knew what Nicholas wanted so I picked that one up and after thirty minutes of standing there Preston ended up picking the exact same costume. Why me I ask myself so often???? So then it was off to find Ninja swords. Well we had no luck there so now Preston doesn't want to be a Ninja anymore. Tough, tough, tough, I told him. He will go as a Ninja or a homeless little boy if he keeps it up I told him. He just laughed at me and said Mommy I a pain in the butt. That is the same exact thing he told me after talking to his Papa during the football game last night. At least he admits it. Maybe I can find a Pain in the Butt anonymous class for him. Doubt it but it would be funny to see hundreds of little kids in a classroom admitting they are big pains in the rear in their families too.

Speaking of football games, the COLTS ROCK!!!! Preston and I both cheered loud and proud on the couch watching the Colts kick some butt last night. I am making him a big Indi fan too as I have already done to my oldest. I still have my husband and Nicholas to make fans so we can be a complete Indi fan family. I will accomplish my goal sooner or later. I watch faithfully so there is no where to go when they are playing on Sundays or Monday Nights.

My Sick Little Guy

It doesn't ever matter how many times in a day he makes me angry one look at his face when he doesn't feel well makes my heart sink. Our day started off fine and we both even went to my middle son's class to volunteer. He played and then his stomach started bothering him. He went from okay to horrible in about ten minutes. I told him he could lay down in my bed and take it easy. He fell asleep really fast so I left him alone and called him in from school today. When he woke up he was in horrible pain and crying really bad. He said his side hurt and he couldn't move because it hurt so bad. My first thought was maybe his appendix. So I called our dr to make an appointment and because they are so awesome there I got in right away. He couldn't walk to the car so I carried him and then he couldn't sit up all the way so I had to lean the seat back for him. Poor thing was white as a ghost on our ride to the doctor. We got there and were taken back very quickly. His temperature had soared to 103.5 in a matter of a half hour so of course now I am in panic mode. He is crying and telling me he loves me through his sniffles which breaks my heart even more. He falls asleep for a brief minute and when he wakes up goes into full panic mode over the stomach pain and tells me he can't breathe and he needs me to get him the doctor right away. It was so cute but I felt so bad for him. She came in right after that and he got checked clear for appendicitis but they were concerned about his fever so he got the royal treatment. She brought him a sprite, some children's tylenol, and let him go to sleep on the bed. I had to wait almost an hour for his fever to go down enough for them to let us go home. Of course the second we walk in the door he is miraculously better and wants to play. I am not exactly sure what happened between the dr and our house but nothing short of a miracle happened and he became my fabulous four year old again. He even had enough energy to sneak a chocolate pudding outside without me noticing. He is good that is for sure. I am thankful though that he recovers so quickly. I will definitely not be complaining about that. But for one brief minute today I saw through his terrible four year old behavior and saw a little boy who told me he loved me for five minutes straight even though he felt so sick. I love that little guy so much and it makes everything he puts me through worth it just to hear those words "I love you Mommy."

Wellness Wednesday

Today was Wellness Wednesday at my sons' school. It is an exercise program they have implemented to get parents physically active with their children. We walk, jog, or run around their field for twenty minutes while collecting beads each lap. I hate to brag but I am one popular woman with my son's kindergarten class so everyone of them wanted to jog with me, except for my son who would much rather turtle walk. He doesn't like Wellness Wednesday very much because he has to walk for too long as he always tells me. So by my sixth lap I finally see my son at the water coolers they provide and I ask him how many beads he has. He tells me he got his one bead and now he is thirsty. I told him he should try to get a few more beads before the time is up. He looks at me out of breathe as if he just ran a mile and tells me he will get one more bead if I will go run with his friends and let him finish getting a drink. I had to laugh because the child truly doesn't like to walk at school even though over the weekend he had no problem walking uphill through tent rocks for over a mile. I did finish eight laps along with half his class who actually liked jogging with me. At least it gets me out with Preston, who loves to run with his brother's class.

A Fun and Active Weekend

This past Sunday we decided to take the boys to Dixon's Apple Orchard. It is a beautiful orchard located in the mountains. The apples are unique being a desert climate and being grown in the mountains. The boys had fun picking an apple to eat and then we, of course, bought a lot of apples. Every recipe I make from now until the end of November will contain apples. After all an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Hopefully my apple purchases will do just that this winter. My boys are already sick of the apples since every time they tell me they are hungry it results in me handing them an apple. They aren't asking for snacks too much anymore.

After we went to the apple orchard we took the boys to Tent Rocks which are rocks that look just like tents. It was so awesome and I will post some pictures as soon as I put them on the computer. We picked a mile and a half trail and it went up into the rock formations until you were actually climbing right into them. It was beautiful. Amazing to see all of the stuff we have right here in New Mexico that we don't even appreciate. The boys had fun until it was time to leave. They wanted to do the other trail but we were already tired from the apple orchard. I wish I had half my boys' energy somedays. It would make me keeping up with them a lot easier. We promised to take them back when it gets a little cooler out.

Overall it was a very busy, yet fun weekend.
