My Big Five Year Old.....Preston John

Here is my big 5 year old......Preston John.

Preston's Check Up

Well, I finally got around to taking Preston to his 5 year old check up. He didn't need any shots because he had to have them to enter preschool last year. That was a nice relief. He weighed in at a whopping 40 lbs 8 ozs. He was 44 3/4 inches tall. So he is a tall, skinny little boy. I already knew that though. He passed his vision test, hearing test, and was goofy for our pediatrician like usual. His next appointment will be to remove his skin tag. He was born with one at the base of his spine so he needs to get it removed now. The dr wanted us to wait until now. He doesn't even realize it is there but it is large enough to see so it is time to get it off. Hopefully it is a quick and easy procedure. Preston doesn't like any needles, just like his Mommy. I will have to be brave for him or maybe just take Daddy with us that day. Overall he is a healthy, happy, and hyper 5 year old. He got an ice cream cone after his appointment so his day ended on a high note.

Last Days of Baseball

Tonight is our last baseball practice and tomorrow is our last game. Austin is such fun to watch that I will miss seeing him play. Although I don't need to miss it too much since the fall season starts in August. Not much time to rest. This season has been awesome. We have had great coaches, great kids, and great parents. That combination is very hard to find in children's sporting activities. Austin is already being recruited by a minor baseball team. Next spring he has to try out and he is already being scouted. I am so proud of him and he has made him mind up that baseball is the only sport he truly wants to play. It makes it easier on us that is for sure. He is such an athlete. Well I will post some baseball pictures from tomorrows game after I get some more good ones. I took a great one of him sliding into home and even enlarged it for his Mamaw and Papa and for our hallway. It came out great. That's it for now.

My Father (a little Father's Day tribute)

Since tomorrow is Father's Day it makes me think of how lucky I am to have the best Dad anyone could ask for. He was a great Dad growing up and is still a kind, supportive Dad to me now. I have such great childhood memories of all the fun my family had. My Dad would take us fishing, boating, swimming at the lake, sledding, you name it we probably did it. He always made us feel important and part of the group even though we were little and needed help. Today he is a great Papa to my three boys and they adore him to pieces. They have already learned what a wonderful person he is and I love how close of a bond they have with him. It brings me a lot of joy seeing them together.

He has been through a lot medically these last few years and although he may not feel well from time to time he still finds time to see us. My boys care for him a lot and know his phone number by heart. They call him just to say hi or when something exciting happens.

He is a wonderful person and will always be the most gracious and caring person I know (besides my Mom who is just as wonderful). I guess I was a lucky one because I ended up with two wonderful parents who I know I can turn to for anything.

Happy Father's Day Dad!!! You have given me 30 wonderful years and I hope to have many more Father's Days to celebrate with you.

Father's Day

Today we spent the day and evening at my sister in laws home for Father's Day. My parents came too which made the day even better. The boys had a ton of fun swimming in their pool. It definitely makes me wish that we could get a pool. Maybe someday. We ate great food, drank lots of drinks, and just had a relaxing time. Tomorrow will be a sleep in day for all of us and just take some time to relax.

I am in need of lots of rest and sleep...........

I still cannot believe that June is here and going by quickly. My cleaning business has been getting a little busier as the weeks go by and I like being busier than I already am. At first I thought the business would bring something just for me to do each day but now I realize not only do I go to a job now but I do everything else too. The days are not long enough to get everything that I need to do done in time. Each day brings something else that has to be done and I just don't seem to have the energy right now to do it. I hope this gets easier but somehow I do not think it will.

The boys are doing good. They are busy with their summer camp activities and even though they are exhausted when they get home they do not seem to want to fall asleep. I want them to go to sleep early but it just never seems to happen. Maybe that is why I am so tired every day. Who knows?

Mat always manages to get his beauty sleep though. The world could be caving in around him and he would sleep right through it. Maybe it is time for me to become like that a little more often. Somedays I wish I could just curl up in my bed even though there are a million things to do and sleep the day away. I am sure all Moms wish they could do that every now and again. It doesn't happen though so I guess it is just a dream in my head.

Well, Father's Day is this weekend and I have no idea what to get Mathew. He already gets all the time to himself he needs and plenty of sleep to go along with his me time. So that is out of the question of giving him a day to relax. He already does enough of that. I guess I will figure that out when I have had more sleep.

I guess this post turned into more of a lack of sleep rant. Hopefully after tonight's blissful rest I will wake up a little more chipper. For now though I am cranky and going to sleep.

Been a while....

Well, it has definitely been a while since I have posted on my own blog. Since summer is upon us I think I can manage a daily update on our life. Lots has happened. My friend and I opened our own green cleaning business and it is taking off faster than we thought. It is great since we decide our hours and days we work so I can still be with the boys at home when they need me.

Speaking of the boys....they are doing well. They finished out the school year strong. Austin is advanced in all of his reading areas and in fact loves to read. I absolutely love that. He is also doing great in every other area and is heading to third grade in the fall. Nicholas finished up kindergarten and was advanced in all math areas. He loves numbers. He doesn't like to write but despite that he still received advanced marks on writing and reading areas. Preston finished out prekindergarten and is heading to kindergarten in the fall. I am proud of all my boys.

We went to Florida to visit my Grandma in Daytona Beach. While we were out there the boys swam in the ocean a couple of times, saw alligators, and went to Universal Studios, and Typhoon Lagoon. We had a great visit to Florida and hope to get back there next year sometime.

Mat and I are doing good. Since summer is here baseball is also here. Austin is the only one playing right now. He is doing great and we enjoy his games. Mamaw and Papa have been going to almost all of his games too. He loves having them there for support.

Other than the above the boys are in summer camp this summer. I needed somewhere for them to go since I am working again and they seem to enjoy it. They get to go swimming and on a field trip each week. They are only going until the end of July and then I am going to spend the rest of the summer with them trying to get them ready to go back to school. Although I think being at camp is helping keep their schedules from the school year.

Here are some pictures of our recent vacation to Florida.
