The First Week of School

Well, the first week of school had lots of excitement and a huge disappointment too. I will start with our huge disappointment. Preston lost his teacher after only two days. She resigned and decided to take another offer with another school. To me it was an awful thing to do to a class of 1st graders. They all met her, tested with her and were excited to be in her class and then she leaves them. Preston was sad about it. So instead of us having to wait for another teacher to be found we called the principal at the school to move him to a class with a teacher already with the school. To our amazement the classes are full in the other rooms. Just sounds funny to me that their is no room for children to move that already attend our school but if new students move to our school they will be placed in one of the supposed full classrooms. It was a complete joke and if they do not have a permanent teacher by the end of this week I will park my butt on the chair in the office until Preston has another secure class to go to. Other than that mess Austin and Nicholas are adjusting great to their new classes. Nicholas even did his homework on Thursday without being told which is a huge step from last year. So for those two so far so good. I guess two out of three isn't bad but I wish Preston had had a great start too.

Lots of Firsts

Well, the first day of school was yesterday for all three boys. It is still nice that they all go to the same elementary school. I guess having them all so close together paid off for this reason. Mat and I dropped them off together and of course Austin had to walk 50 feet ahead of us in case he saw one of his friends. Then we found Preston and Nicholas' lines. Mat then of course went to find Austin and all of his friends came running up to Mat. Since Mat went on all the field trips and such last year he knows most of the kiddos in the class. So Austin didn't get away from his parents that easily. The bell rang and we said good bye to the boys and off they went. I picked them up after school and they all couldn't stop talking about how great their days went. So I took from all their smiles and jibber jabber that the overall first day of school was a great day for all three of them. Onto today which is their first full day of school and we could have a different perspective on things. Hopefully it will be the same reaction but who knows.

We also started baseball last night. All three boys are playing fall ball which is going to make things quite interesting. Preston had practice last night and the other two are having practice tonight. They are all excited so I am hoping the excitement keeps them going because it is going to be a busy couple months in our home.

Meet the Teacher Day

Well, another school year is upon us and boy am I ready. It is so exciting for Mat and I that the boys are starting another school year. YAHOOO!! The boys all met their teachers for the upcoming year and they were wonderful. We have the best luck with teachers. They were all great and the first impression of how they are going to be as a teacher was awesome. The boys are all excited too, well not as excited as we are but then again that is to be expected. Austin was excited because his buddies are in his class again this year, Nicholas told his teacher he was thirsty and bored that he had to come (what enthusiasm my son has), and Preston hid behind my leg the whole time. But like I said WE, Mat and I are very excited that another school year is upon us. GO SCHOOL YEAR!!! Woohoo!! Can't you tell I am very giddy about this process. It gets a little more exciting each year. So, pictures are coming of the boys' first day of school next Wednesday, August 19th. We will be there with bells on.

Preston's Crying with the Ipod

So after dinner tonight we were heading home and Preston was listening to his brothers Ipod. About five minutes into it he started listening to a song we sing in church quite frequently and burst into tears. I turned around to see what was wrong with him and he started saying between all his tears that he misses church and we should go more often. I told him we go almost every Sunday and that this Sunday he was moving to his new Sunday school class. It didn't matter because I think to him he thought we should be going everyday. Or maybe he was just remembering how he acted at dinner and needed some forgiveness. :0)
