Shotgun!!!!

So this morning I was taking Nicholas and Preston to school and Nicholas calls out shotgun so he can sit in the front. The boys get in the car and Preston says why do you say shotgun to sit in the front? Nicholas and Preston start discussing why and this was their conversation (and I don't make these things up, I really couldn't if I tried):

Preston: OH I know why they say shotgun now, because in the old days the person in the passenger seat had to sit with a gun because of all the enemies.

Nicholas: Yeah but I think the person in the passenger seat had an actual shotgun just in case their neighbors were enemies too.

Preston: Well, I guess the person in the front seat Nick would need to protect the driver too so your probably right about the shotgun.

Nicholas: I think so too. I guess back then it was dangerous to sit in the front seat.

Preston: Mom, did you call shotgun to sit in the front seat or did you ever have a shotgun with you in the front seat?

Because we all know that Mom was born in the old days. I love to listen to my boys and their theories of how old they truly think I am.

So at least I got a good laugh while dropping them off this morning. I love those boys so much and the laughter they bring me each and every day. Thanks boys!!

A Start of a New School Year

Well, another summer has come to a close and school is officially underway. Austin has started his 6th grade year in middle school and loves it. Thank goodness because that really could have gone either way. He loves his classes, teachers, friends, basically everything which is helping me breath easier about the whole transition. Preston and Nicholas started on Monday. Preston is now in third grade and really likes his new class and teacher. Nicholas is in fourth grade and came home after the first couple of days and said I LOVE 4th GRADE!! Thank goodness because Nicholas had a rough go at third grade. He didn't enjoy his class, teacher, etc. last year. So this is a great change for him and us.

Overall I feel that this school year is going to be a very successful one.
