I always knew having four boys would someday yield me daughters in law. It made me think of what I want for them and then it made me stop thinking because holy cow I AM NOT READY FOR ANY OF THAT!!
On Friday Austin asked his Dad and I if he could go over to a girl's house and help her out with some school work she is needing help with. Being that they have been friends since kindergarten we said yes. It also helped that her Dad was going to be present and if you have a daughter, are a daughter or know of a Dad with daughters the rest doesn't need explaining.
Sunday arrived and I dropped Austin off at their home and watched him go inside and drove off. Wow, I just dropped my son off at a girl's home. Am I really old enough to be doing this kind of thing? I wanted to go back to when he was in preschool and delivered a rose meant for his teacher to a little girl in his class. Why do they grow up so quickly?
Well he called several hours later and said her parents invited him to stay for dinner. I said yes and told him to please show them that we taught him how to behave. He said he would and that he loved me. Yes, my 14 year old still says he loves me with people around. I am pretty lucky just in that aspect of my life. Most kids his age do not want their parents around. I will take it while I can get it.
His parents dropped him off around 8pm. Yes it was a long time but they were supervised and he said her parents loved him and that he is welcome back anytime. That made me feel good. Well, it made me feel good up until Austin blurted out, "Glad I'm home I have been holding my farts in all day." Oh son, how we missed you!
Love my boys!!
