Conversation with an 18 month old.....

Last night I caught myself really listening to the words coming out of my mouth as I am talking to Liam.  This is a little of what went on.......

During bath time:

"Liam please sit down, you can fall if you stand up."

Liam proceeds to do a half jump in the bath then lean all the way forward with his bum in the air trying to exit the tub backwards.

"Liam please don't put your feet up there.  It's not safe.  Sweetie, please stop you have to sit down in the bath."

Liam jumps again and then sits so hard water comes rushing up over the tub and all over me.

"Ok it's time to get out of the tub so we can go eat dinner."

Liam says, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no."  When he says this he puts his mouth in a cute little circle shape and smiles at me as if saying No is somehow cute.  Ok, it was totally adorable when he did it.  The best part is while he is saying No to me he is trying to get out of the tub.  So he actually did mean yes but we all know that that word is not part of a toddlers vocabulary.

Dinner time:

"Liam climb up in your seat so I can give you your plate."

Liam climbs up in his seat all while yelling at the dog to "Shhhh" because she was barking very loudly.

Liam proceeds to shove food in his mouth at a high rate of speed since he really wants down to go play with the ball that he has spotted on the ground.

"Liam please get your feet off the table."  Liam has learned that if he pushes himself a little back in his chair that he can rest his feet on the table.  It is a hard thing to break him of because the boys think it is hilarious so then he laughs and thinks it's funny too.

He is finally done shoving food in his mouth and proceeds to tell me "Down, ball, MOM!!!"  The MOM was said loudly because evidently I didn't hear the first two words so he increasingly gets louder.  Understandable since there are three older brothers that he is trying to talk over.

As soon as he is down he is off running around with the wagon, ball, and a mini skateboard that the boys gave him.  He is trying to push his wagon into the wall while riding on the skateboard with the ball inside the wagon.  I tell you that that little boy is very clever and if he sees it and wants it he will somehow incorporate it into what he is playing at the moment.

He is so busy now too.  I can't keep up with him half the time.  The boys take over when I am cooking dinner.  One of them usually pushes him in his swing or takes him out to play ball.  Otherwise he stands right next to me with all of his toys.  I am thankful to have help.

Toddlers are exhausting!!
