Survived Camping.....Barely!!

Well, we ventured out on Saturday morning for our weekend of camping.  We had our family of six plus one of Austin's friend's with us.  Not too mention that our van was packed to the roof in the back, middle and front.  Mat said I over packed and I probably did but hey, a family of six plus one requires a lot of food and extras.

We got there around Noon on Saturday and made camp up in Jemez where Mat and the boys have gone several times prior.  This was our first trip with Liam, a one year old little boy who never stops unless he is asleep.  I knew we were in for it and this was going to be far from relaxing.

The above two pictures are our tents, the big one for Mat and I and three of the boys, the other smaller one was for Austin and his friend.  Let the fun begin.....

We set up our camp and ate lunch courtesy of over packing Mom!!  We ate yummy chili dogs and chips.  It was delicious and the boys were starving even though the only thing we had done so far was unpack.  At this point I was so thankful that I had over packed the food.  Holy cow can boys eat food.  A twenty pack of hot dogs was gone before my eyes.  Liam even ate a lot.

After lunch I decided to clean up camp a little bit and the boys were shooting their bb guns.  It was closer to evening by the time we finally had everything where it needed to be.  I am so bad about organizing instead of having fun.  I know that I need to relax and have more fun in life but it doesn't come very easy to me.  I wish it did, I really do!

While the boys were shooting their bb guns Preston had a very bad accident involving his finger.  The top layer of skin got caught on the bb gun trigger and ripped backwards.  It was gushing blood.  Mat got him cared for but we knew at that point that our trip was going to be cut short.
Poor Preston was trying to be tough at first but started crying.  Liam didn't like Preston crying so he tried to comfort him in the tent.  It was so cute.

Sleeping was tough especially since our 1 year old doesn't like to sleep in the great outdoors.  Mat had to drive Liam around at 10:30pm at night because he would not sleep, just scream and cry.  He was out in two minutes on the car ride.  Once we were all sleep in became quite cold out in Jemez.  Our boys were cold but Liam was between us so he was fine.  I felt bad that they were cold and never said anything because they could have easily fit between us and they would have stayed warm.

With Preston's injury and the cold weather we left around 2pm on Sunday.  I was relieved just so I wouldn't have to deal with Liam's sleep issues.

It took a while for us to become the hillybilly family in the minivan but we managed to fit it all in again.

It was tough with a one year old, I won't lie.  He wanted to follow his brothers around everywhere and there was a creek running through our campsite.  The boys were exploring the area and Liam wanted to be a part of it.  Poor baby tried to follow them.  He ended up getting to play in the water, first with Daddy and second with Mommy.  He was so tired that night.

Overall, good Labor Day.
